May 15, 2012 – Dragonfly, Dragonfly

Growing up, I used to chase dragonflies and other critters such as crickets, bees and bees with stingers, but dragonfly was always very fascinating.  I think it was because I was told that dragonfly tricked children into spending way too much time in the sun.  It was probably bad then, but nowadays, in the age of video games, I sure wish that more children spend their time chasing real butterflies than playing angry birds.

It has been a while since I wrote a poem (instead of stealing from some famous poet) so, to remind me of the time long ago, chasing dragonfly. What do you think?

Dragonfly by Yudha – 2012
Dragonfly, dragonfly Flutter here flutter bySix legs and four wings

Like Pied Piper when you fly

only so far and always nearby

children chase you all day

In the sun, in the shade by the meadow, by the streamflutter here, flutter there

Dragonfly, dragonfly

Children follow you everywhere

They chase you in their dream
