June 29, 2012 – Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum

Si vis pacem, para bellum is a latin phrase that means “If you wish for peace, prepare for war”.  Weakness is not an option – just like this photo of a rose (Rose? What rose?” ) – well maybe not a rose, but the thorns of a rose.  Some how when I see roses – I am always reminded of this phrase.  Roses are pretty and they look fragile – waiting to be picked unless you are careless and grab the stalk with your bare hands then you will realize that roses are quite capable of defending themselves.  As if to say “handle with care and I am yours, otherwise, watch out!”
