December 22, 2012 – Idyllic Sunset
Starting today (the day after winter solstice) the day will slowly gets longer until the upcoming summer solstice on June 21, 2013. For most people who lives in the northern or southern hemisphere, this is something to count on, so that they can have more fun during summer. I came from the equator, as a matter of fact, the town where I grew up is right on the equator line which means that everyday, every week, every month throughout the year the sun rises and sets around the same time, life was predictable and quite boring. The good news is that I could observe how the toilet flush clockwise and counter clockwise at different part of town 😉
Here in the northern hemisphere we would have daylight until around 10 pm near summer solstice and there are many many things that could be done outdoor. In cold and short winter days, I usually find myself counting the days until summer. In meantime, I would have the memories of summer while watching this idle sunset.
By the way, I was fascinated by the icy blobs hanging a few inches above water hanging on the cattails stalks. They come in all different shapes and sizes. I have never seen this before and thought that it was very interesting.
