Year 3 – August 19, 2014 Jack Fruit

Yesterday we went to Chinatown shopping and we got this fruit called jackfuit.  I grew up eating this fruit.  Just like durian, it can be quite pungent and it is an acquired taste [keyword for unless you grew up eating it, you probably won’t like it]  Prior to moving to the Pacific Northwest, I haven’t had a fresh one of these for a long long time.  (This is just the skin of the fruit, inedible – I didn’t photograph the fruit itself, maybe next time)

Year 2 – August 19, 2013 The End of an Era

This is what happened to Blackberry when you are resetting [read; killing] it.  It was a smart phone and for quite a while, many people (myself included) couldn’t really imagine how life was before Blackberry.  It was IT. It was the king of hill.  Like many kings, it got a little too comfortable on the throne and now it is time to move on.  For myself and for many, this is the end of an era.  You can almost see the sadness on the screen – the ‘x’ in the middle said a lot.
